How To Stop Lip Biting

Hypnotherapy can help you

  • Lip biting is an automatic response
  • It is usually linked to anxiety
  • How would you like to stop lip biting?
  • And be more relaxed and at ease.
  • It is possible to stop lip biting
  • Hypnosis and NLP may well help you.
Sometimes this habit is conscious. you know you are doing it but you just can’t seem to stop doing it. Sometimes it is unconscious; you don’t know you have been doing it until afterwards.  Either way, if you are a compulsive lip-biter your lips probably spend a lot of time in fairly poor shape.  By using this combination of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and hypnotherapy we aim to help you to stop lip biting as quickly as possible.

Stop lip biting. Where does this habit come from?

Who knows? And the truth is that it really doesn’t matter how it started. It exists as a pattern of behaviour in the same sort of way that nail biting or compulsive hair pulling does. It’s just a bad habit. Sometimes people do this when they are bored, sometimes when they are anxious or excited, and some even do it when they are otherwise relaxed, watching the TV or reading a book. Trying to work out the cause of the problem doesn’t help you solve the problem. If you suffer from depression, anxiety, panic or nerves then we will work with you to resolve these issues as well.

What are you going to do to help me to stop biting my lips

The fields of hypnotherapy and NLP provide a broad range of techniques to combat these problems. The one thing these approaches have in common is their directness, at least, the way we use them. You are an individual so what we do will depend upon what you respond to the fastest. Reconditioning, or repatterning techniques tend to disassociate you from the activity. Then we work to then ‘attach’ feelings of relaxation and ease to those times when you need these feelings. Lip-biting is not a complicated issue, it’s just a physiological act that you have learned to do in certain contexts. For some people it’s a lot of contexts! We will do our best to retrain your mind and body to stop lip biting for good.
