Information About Nutritional Therapy
What is Nutritional Therapy?
Nutritional Therapists help to correct dietary
imbalances and nutritional deficiencies. One is what One eats, or
more precisely one is what one digests and absorbs into ones body
system. We have to eat simply to stay alive, but what, when and how
we eat and drink can make the difference between good and bad health,
lethargy and vitality, happiness and depression. How much we eat
is only one aspect of the equation, the
nutritional value and variety of the diet is equally important in
determining the quality of one's overall lifestyle.
Of particular importance in Nutritional Therapy is the individual tailoring
of dietary treatment regimes to suit each individual case. Nutritional
Therapists believe experience has shown that diets are very particular
in nature, what works for one person may be ineffective in others.
What happens at a Nutritional Therapy consultation ?
Nutritional Therapy works by looking in detail at an individual's symptoms
and signs, bringing them together to form a more comprehensive view
of their current state of health. Each person completes a detailed questionnaire
prior to the consultation.
The client is asked
to expand on areas that might be relevant and to discuss what they
would like to gain from nutritional therapy. Once a picture has been
formed, diet and lifestyle suggestions are made which are specific
to the individual. Progress will need to be monitored consequently
at least one follow up consultation will be required, others are
occasionally necessary for the therapist to fine tune the treatment.
