Information About Hopi Ear Candling Therapy
What is Hopi Ear Candling Therapy?
The Hopi are a tribe of North American Pueblo Indians famed for their spirituality and holistic healing philosophies and practices.
A small candle is burnt whilst held against the outer ear. The candle is made from beeswax with additional ingredients - Honey, Sage, St.John's Wort, Chamomile and Beta-Carotene (Vitamin A). The treatment takes about 10-12 minutes
whilst the candle burns.
Hopi Ear Candling Therapy is an effective
treatment for a variety of disorders of the ear canal, throat and sinuses.
The warmth of the wax induces a mild suction effect on the ear canal which
is believed to draw out impurities, re-adjust balance and gently massage
the inner ear and surrounding areas whilst the inhaled vapours have a therapeutic
effect on the whole olfactory system.
The original Hopi tribes people used candles for a wide range of medicinal and spiritual purposes, varying the recipe of herb additives to suit the particular usage. The original candles employed by the Hopi indians were conical in shape but modern candles are exclusively straight tubes producing a much higher degree of safety in operation.
