Obsessive Compulsive Disorder – OCD – is a label give to people who repeat patterns of thinking, therefore feeling therefore behaviour.

Help with OCD. There are many ‘versions’ of OCD that we may be able to help you recover from.

OCD ranges from someone repeatedly checking that the taps have been turned off, the gas is turned off, or there is ‘nothing under the bed’, to someone who repeatedly washes their hands until they are red-raw and bleeding because they are afraid of contamination, or disease.

There is also an OCD category of ‘obsessive thoughts’, where a person cannot seem to get the ‘bad’ thoughts out of their mind.

Then there are those who obsessively engage in some physical activity, such as picking at their face

Basically, we work to help stop OCD and help you to make your imagination your friend, rather than something that causes you problems.

Also, with these cases, it is often useful to install a strategy of thinking that allows you to easily make a determination between what is real (i.e. the taps have been turned off) and the imaginary pictures in the mind (the taps haven’t been turned off, there might be a flood etc).

This is done both consciously by literally showing you ‘how’ to think differently, and unconsciously, by re-patterning the thought/feeling process at a deep level. This is done by very literally giving you a new sense of perspective, very literally giving you control over your ‘inner voice’, whatever it takes. We are all different but we all learn to think in patterns. Usually these patterns of thinking serve us. Sometimes they dont. In any event you can be trained to think differently.

In our experience help can be given to all patterns of OCD. This does not mean everyone will benefit. We will, however. always do our best to help you.

Help with OCD. How long will it take to treat my OCD?

This is very variable. For many problems, such as simple phobias, one or two sessions will be enough. To provide effective help with OCD issues we usually require longer. You can be sure that we will work as directly and effectively as possible. Remember, this is not counselling. This is training for your mind, training to put you back in control of your thinking.
