Hypnotherapy And NLP For Addiction To Exercise

Your addiction to exercise can be cured by hypnotherapy and NLP. We work very directly with these sorts of addiction patterns, enabling you to bring your thoughts and feelings and behaviours under your control. Please do feel free to contact any of us, anytime.

Stop Exercising Too Much

The addiction to exercise usually begins, and continues to be fuelled, by the fear of being overweight.  In many cases, although certainly not all, this compulsion is related some kind of eating disorder, most commonly anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa.  In extreme cases the person puts their body under immense, sustained stress potentially causing long-term damage.

Am I Addicted To Exercise?

This kind of addiction can sometimes be a compulsion that can be just as destructive as taking drugs. There are, of course, feel-good chemicals people experience when they exercise – endorphins, but most people with a severe problem spend more time feeling bad because they haven’t exercised yet, or enough. Often there is a fear driven by thoughts of putting on weight and becoming fat, or a feeling that if you aren’t doing enough then you aren’t ‘in control’. People experience mood swings or ‘withdrawal’ if they find themselves unable to get their ‘fix’.

If your life seems to revolve around your exercise routines then yes, you are behaving addictively.

People with this problem will tend to have some or all of the following characteristics.

  • They continue to exercise even when ill or injured
  • They often have a fixed routine when they exercise
  • They exercise for several hours a day
  • They are constantly thinking about their body shape or weight
  • They feel that their job, or family often get in the way of their exercising
  • They miss work, college or school to exercise

What Will You Do To Help Me With My Compulsive Over-Exercising Problems?

Obviously there can be a whole bunch of reasons why you have got to the point where you spend far to much time exercising to the point it has become a compulsion. Rather than talk to you about why you are doing it (you probably already have a very good ideas about why you do it), we focus on training your mind to begin to aim your consciousness at patterns of thinking that allow you to more easily take a more balanced view of your life. Sure, it’s important to be healthy, and exercise can play a huge role in either getting fit or in maintaining a good level of fitness.

But it’s also important to have a life…

Hypnotherapy & NLP To Stop Exercise Addiction For Good

By using the modern models of change available from the fields of hypnotherapy and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), we work very directly with you to educate and train you to be more in control of your thoughts and feelings. The aim is to give you conscious tools so that you become able to change the way you are doing things for good, and also, by using hypnotherapeutic patterns, we help you to make these positive changes quickly, easily and more automatically.
